Þeir sprengdu peningaskáp bankans með nítróglyseríni.[6][7][4] Þegar bankinn opnaði var hann upphaflega kallaður The Farmer's State Bank of Wheatland en árið 1922 var nafninu breytt í First National Bank of Wheatland. Kreppan mikla gekk yfir bæði Wheatland og Bethany í nágrenninu. Staðbundinn banki Bethany féll árið 1932 og bærinn Wheatland fór í hnignun sem hann náði sér aldrei upp úr. Vegna þess að svo virtist sem engin framtíð yrði í Wheatland flutti bankinn árið 1941 og breytti nafni sínu í First National Bank of Bethany.[8]

The Wheatland Weekly Watchword var gefið út frá 1909 til 1914 af The Suburban Newspaper Publishing Company.[9][10][11] The Wheatland Weekly Watchword birti ljóð, orðatiltæki, staðbundna atburði, ríkis- og landsfréttir og auglýsingar. Hula Lisel var ritstjóri.[12]

Árið 1942 voru íbúar Wheatland 183.[13]
