Minniháttar breytingar[breyta frumkóða]

Hæ, þegar þú ert að gera minniháttar breytingar eins og að búa til tilvísarnir, laga stafsetningarvillur o.fl. væriru til í að merkja þær sem slíkar, það gerir það auðveldara að fara yfir þær á nýlegum breytingum. —Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 9. nóv. 2005 kl. 22:41 (UTC)

OK, sjálfsagt mál. Hef þetta í huga. – Krun 10. nóv. 2005 kl. 00:09 (UTC)

Arghh! :p – Krun 12. des. 2005 kl. 16:28 (UTC)

Halló! Ég heiti Gaudio. Hvað heitir þú?

Thank you for your correction in one of the articles in French about one writer from Iceland. If you feel like helping me again, you can see the articles I did in Spanish, German, Portuguese & Franch and correct the Icelandic words, not quite difficult, right? :)

Gaudio 19. des. 2005 kl. 20:31 (UTC)

I'll look through them. B.t.w., ég heiti Kristján ;) – Krun 19. des. 2005 kl. 23:37 (UTC)

Thank you, thank you, thank you

Can i ask you sth?mmm

It's not very difficult :)

Another user of the poor Spanish wikipedia called Rupert de hentzau [(http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usuario:Rupert_de_hentzau] and i have a doubt...

Since you don't have family names, but patronymics or matronymics ([1]) (Íslenskt mannanafn), you don't use classifications by surnames, right? I mean, for instance if your name is Kristján Rúnarsson, you will always appear like that everywhere, never like Rúnarsson, Kristján, right?. I tell you this because Rupert loves to correct me and i told him that i was not very sure he could classify Icelandic writers like that because i saw the way you classifeied them in Icelandic and English wikipedias.

Another question about that...

Is this true?: Icelandic families have supposedly had difficulties with the customs services of foreign countries mistakenly believing their children may be being kidnapped because of the differing names. In more traditional countries or establishments it can also be fairly embarrassing for a person to check into a hotel with his or her spouse only to have to prove his or her marital status, though this has obviously become a less common requirement in recent decades

Another question about that...!

I read in a Jorge Luis Borges book, the stroy about a man, who was son of A, son of B, son of C, son of D...I found that interasting, do you write taht in your CV's?

just kidding :)

thanks for correcting the articles Rupert and i have made

Gaudio 20. des. 2005 kl. 16:28 (UTC)

Yes, it is quite true that Icelandic names are always sorted by first name, because, owing to the vast majority of Icelanders using patronymics (or matronymics) rather than family names, the first name is much better to use for identifying Icelanders. When one Icelander adresses another, the first name is always used, even in the rare case that the person he adresses has a family name, simply because tradition has made it so.
About your last question: Many older Icelanders like to ask people whom they are meeting for the first time about their ancestors and they will say they're the son/daughter of A, son/daughter of B, son/daughter of C, son/daughter of D, etc., and count different lineages of which they are part, most often allowing the listener to establish a genetic link (or even several links) between himself and this person.
Krun 20. des. 2005 kl. 20:06 (UTC)

Thank you again! (Rupert says thanks too)

Nice speech! You must b a teacher, right? I also heard lots of things from you guys and your names, but i guess, they're nothing but myths :)

Today it's the everlasting night for you, right? the noon moon? the solstice?

Here you have a sun:

Gaudio 21. des. 2005 kl. 16:37 (UTC)

You're welcome. Actually, I'm not a teacher at all, just an 18 year old who likes to study languages and is good at grammar ;) … and a Wikipediholic. Thanks for the sunshine. As it is the winter solstice today it was very well thought of. It is almost as if the sun never comes up this time of the year. – Krun 21. des. 2005 kl. 18:10 (UTC)

Echt?

I thought you were older. I'm also interested in languages actually, but i studied something completely different! We can swtich the language if you want, if you feel more confortable, i mean, but if you want to speak in German with me, be patient bitte! And no Icelandic or another Scandinavian language (I know they're similar, right?) so far, maybe you can teach as the good theacher you are!

You take care and give a nice hug to your dad or mum Rúnar :)

Je t'embrasse!

Gaudio 21. des. 2005 kl. 18:28 (UTC)

Actually, what I'm studying at school this year is mainly physics and mathematics, although I have never had a particular liking for physics, and have mostly lost interest in math now. Weird, huh? :p When I said I like to study languages, I meant in my free time. Next year, when I enter university, I'll finally be able to spend my school time on something more interesting, namely Japanese.
Ja, ich will gern Deutsch mit dir sprechen, ou français, si tu veux. ;) Though, for now, no habla español.
About the Scandinavian languages (I prefer to reserve this classification for Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian, using Nordic or North Germanic for the broader category including Icelandic and Faroese), they are to Icelandic rather as English is to Dutch or even Romanian to Latin. It is generally very easy for us Icelanders to learn the Scandinavian languages, but we are by no means able to understand them to any great extent without studying them. Faroese is much closer to Icelandic, and whole texts of it may be understood by an Icelander without any specific knowledge of Faroese, although its phonetics have developed in different ways and the spoken language is poorly understood by Icelanders.
By Icelandic custom, I'll tell you a bit of my ancestry:
Einar---+---Sigríður Unndór---+---Guðrún Búi---+---Jóna Guðjón---+---Guðrún
        | | | |
   Vilhjálmur---------+---------Gerður Kristján--------+-------Erla
                      | |
                    Rúnar---------------------+-------------------Guðrún
                                              |
                                           Kristján

Krun 22. des. 2005 kl. 14:35 (UTC)

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

Physics & mathematics! that's terrible, I have never been good with calculus! and i did sth related to it actually, well somehow

So you're Kristján Rúnarsson Vilhjálmursson Einarsson and so on, right?

Mmmm

Japonese is cool but difficult, you will have to study a lot! But courage!

But.It's easier than Mandarin with all thoses tones & characters & counters...

I know it because i have a friend from Singapore, and friends form the Netherlands, too, and from Spain, and from Belgium, and from Mexico, and from USA, and from Brasil and from Denmark and from Germany and from everywhere and well now i have one from Iceland as well :)

You take care! Happy holidays!

Question on mars[breyta frumkóða]

Hello! I am translating some sentences from wikt:mars to ja:wikt:mars. I have found that mars has two meanings and you added the second meaning. There is no second meaning on en:wikt:mars. So I translate the description sentence of wikt:mars. But I could not understand some words and it was not able to distinguish whether mars means only the music or not. So, please let me know whether the second meaning of mars is only the music or not. Thank you.Penpen 15. desember 2007 kl. 13:54 (UTC)[svara]

Yes, it refers only to the music, not to the marching itself, which is called marsering. – Krun 22. febrúar 2008 kl. 21:07 (UTC)[svara]

Good Evening, please, can you translate in Icelandic and Norwegian the article en:Martin Weinek and en:Kaspar Capparoni? Thanks in advance![breyta frumkóða]

Good evening to you and regards from en:Campora San Giovanni. I write you regarding the articles of a note police television series: Lögregluhundurinn Rex. For better saying some principal actors of the international series. Martin Weinek and Kaspar Capparoni. Weinek is the veteran of the Austrian series, now real member of the series international, as well as excellent agricultural and theatrical entrepreneur and an experienced wine-grower. Capparoni is the new entry of the series, but he has already worked and he works for international productions and with famous directors, I quote among everybody: Dario Argento. I think that the series will arrive within the winter 2008 thanks also to Rai International, that will be transmitted in 150 countries and in more than 70 languages, among which the Icelandic and the Norwegian. Naturally if you will help me in this, me rechanged really the favor translating a biography or a geographical article in Italian and Sicilian. In fact on the Italian edition they are biographer and geographer. In attends him of one certain answer of yours I thank you in advance and I greet you from Campora San Giovanni, my village native. Thanks still for the patience and the understanding.--Lodewijk Vadacchino 6. október 2008 kl. 19:00 (UTC)[svara]

Hi, sorry for writing in English. I'm writing to ask you, as a bureaucrat of this wiki, to translate and review the notification that will be sent to all users, also on this wiki, who will be forced to change their user name on May 27 and will probably need your help with renames. You may also want to help with the pages m:Rename practices and m:Global rename policy. Thank you, Nemo 3. maí 2013 kl. 13:33 (UTC)[svara]

An important message about renaming users[breyta frumkóða]

Dear Krun, My aplogies for writing in English. Please translate or have this translated for you if it will help. I am cross-posting this message to many places to make sure everyone who is a Wikimedia Foundation project bureaucrat receives a copy. If you are a bureaucrat on more than one wiki, you will receive this message on each wiki where you are a bureaucrat.

As you may have seen, work to perform the Wikimedia cluster-wide single-user login finalisation (SUL finalisation) is taking place. This may potentially effect your work as a local bureaucrat, so please read this message carefully.

Why is this happening? As currently stated at the global rename policy, a global account is a name linked to a single user across all Wikimedia wikis, with local accounts unified into a global collection. Previously, the only way to rename a unified user was to individually rename every local account. This was an extremely difficult and time-consuming task, both for stewards and for the users who had to initiate discussions with local bureaucrats (who perform local renames to date) on every wiki with available bureaucrats. The process took a very long time, since it's difficult to coordinate crosswiki renames among the projects and bureaucrats involved in individual projects.

The SUL finalisation will be taking place in stages, and one of the first stages will be to turn off Special:RenameUser locally. This needs to be done as soon as possible, on advice and input from Stewards and engineers for the project, so that no more accounts that are unified globally are broken by a local rename to usurp the global account name. Once this is done, the process of global name unification can begin. The date that has been chosen to turn off local renaming and shift over to entirely global renaming is 15 September 2014, or three weeks time from now. In place of local renames is a new tool, hosted on Meta, that allows for global renames on all wikis where the name is not registered will be deployed.

Your help is greatly needed during this process and going forward in the future if, as a bureaucrat, renaming users is something that you do or have an interest in participating in. The Wikimedia Stewards have set up, and are in charge of, a new community usergroup on Meta in order to share knowledge and work together on renaming accounts globally, called Global renamers. Stewards are in the process of creating documentation to help global renamers to get used to and learn more about global accounts and tools and Meta in general as well as the application format. As transparency is a valuable thing in our movement, the Stewards would like to have at least a brief public application period. If you are an experienced renamer as a local bureaucrat, the process of becoming a part of this group could take as little as 24 hours to complete. You, as a bureaucrat, should be able to apply for the global renamer right on Meta by the requests for global permissions page on 1 September, a week from now.

In the meantime please update your local page where users request renames to reflect this move to global renaming, and if there is a rename request and the user has edited more than one wiki with the name, please send them to the request page for a global rename.

Stewards greatly appreciate the trust local communities have in you and want to make this transition as easy as possible so that the two groups can start working together to ensure everyone has a unique login identity across Wikimedia projects. Completing this project will allow for long-desired universal tools like a global watchlist, global notifications and many, many more features to make work easier.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the SUL finalisation, read over the Help:Unified login page on Meta and leave a note on the talk page there, or on the talk page for global renamers. You can also contact me on my talk page on meta if you would like. I'm working as a bridge between Wikimedia Foundation Engineering and Product Development, Wikimedia Stewards, and you to assure that SUL finalisation goes as smoothly as possible; this is a community-driven process and I encourage you to work with the Stewards for our communities.

Thank you for your time. -- Keegan (WMF) talk 25. ágúst 2014 kl. 18:24 (UTC)[svara]

How we will see unregistered users[breyta frumkóða]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Færeysk nöfn íslenskuð[breyta frumkóða]

Sæll, hvaðan færðu íslensku nöfnin yfir færeysk örnefni? Berserkur (spjall) 29. september 2023 kl. 12:07 (UTC)[svara]

Ég er ekki með neina eina heimild með þeim öllum, en fletti upp líklegustu myndum í netfréttum, tímaritsgreinum, fornritum o.fl. til að finna dæmi. Svo hef ég líka til hliðsjónar færeyskar heimildir um uppruna nafna o.fl. – Krun (spjall) 29. september 2023 kl. 15:58 (UTC)[svara]
Ok. Gætirðu haft færeysku heitin feitletruð. Mér er til efs að íslensku heitin séu yfirleitt notuð.--Berserkur (spjall) 1. október 2023 kl. 17:29 (UTC)[svara]
Vissulega eru íslensk heiti notuð um staði í Færeyjum. Hér er t.d. gott dæmi um slíkt. En færeysku nöfnin mættu vissulega vera aðeins meira áberandi en bara skáletruð. Ég held að það færi vel á því að hafa þau ská- og feitletruð í inngangnum eins og ég hef nú gert hér. – Krun (spjall) 2. október 2023 kl. 09:01 (UTC)[svara]
