Sniðið setur upp heimildir samkvæmt CS1 staðlinum sem hefur eftirfarandi útlit:

• Punktur til að aðgreina reiti og sem endir á heimild
• Semíkomma til þess að aðgreina höfunda og ritstjóra
• Titill er skáletraður
• Titill styttri verka eins og kafla er í gæsalöppum

Gildi

Höfundar

Höfundar eru tilgreindir í tölusettum gildum. Ef tilgreina á höfund með eftirnafn fyrst síðan skírnarnafni, þá er hægt að nota last1, first1. Fyrsti höfundur er tilgreindur í author1 eða last1, first1, annar í author2 eða last2, first2, o.s.frv. Hérna á eftir táknar "N" tölustaf. Til þess að láta höfund tengja í grein er greinarheitið sett í author-linkN. Ef margir höfundar eru gefnir og ekki á að sýna alla er gildið display-authors notað, talan á eftir gildinu er fjöldinn af þeim höfundum sem sýndir eru. Íslenska, búrneska, eþíópska, mongólska og taílenska höfunda á að tilgreina með authorN, aldrei lastN, firstN, enda myndi það brjóta í bága við hefðir í öllum þessum löndum.

lastN eða authorN ásamt year skal vera einstakt til að tengja við Snið:Harv og Snið:Harvp. Dæmi last1=Smith|year=2010 í einni heimild og last1=Smith|last2=Jones|year=2010 í annari, ekki last1=Smith|year=2010 í þeim báðum.

Ritstjórar

Ritstjórar eru tilgreindir á sama hátt og með höfunda, bara undir öðrum gildum. editorN-first er notað fyrir skírnarnafn og editorN-last fyrir eftirnafn. Ritstjórar eru tengdir við greinar með editorN-link. Display-editors má nota til að takmarka hversu margir ritstjórar eru sýndir í heimildinni.

Þýðendur

Þýðendur eru tilgreindir á sama hátt og með höfunda, bara undir öðrum gildum. translatorN-first er notað fyrir skírnarnafn og translatorN-last fyrir eftirnafn. Þýðendur eru tengdir við greinar með translatorN-link.

Aðrir

Fyrir aðra sem hafa lagt til verksins, er gildið others notað. Þetta getur til dæmis verið teiknari bókarinnar.

Dagsetningar

Dagsetningar eru gefnar undir nokkrum gildum.

• Date er full dagsetning útgáfunnar í heimildinni. Má líka tilgreina með gildinu year ef bara árið er þekkt.
• Orig-date er upphafleg útgáfudagsetning, þ.e. dagsetning fyrstu útgáfu heimildarinnar, t.d. fyrsta prentun bókar.
• access-date er dagsetningin þegar heimildin var skoðuð
• archive-date er dagsetningin þegar afrit var gerð af efninu. Þetta er oftast notað fyrir vefsvæði eins og vefsafn.is og archive.org sem geyma afrit af vefsíðum svo þau glatist ekki ef vefsíðan fer af netinu.

Dagsetningar sem fylgja eftir reglum Ensku wikipediu eru sjálfkrafa þýddar yfir á íslensku.

Titlar og kaflar

Titlar og kaflar eru gefnir undir nokkrum gildum.

• Title er titill heimildarinnar. Undiritlar eru tilgreindir með ": " aðgreiningu.
• Script-title er notað fyrir tungumál utan latneska stafrófsins, eins og Arabíska, Kínverska, Gríska, Hebreska, o.s.frv. Þetta gildi er gefið með tungumálakóðanum, tvípunkti og greinarheitinu, t.d. |script-title=ar:العربية
• Trans-title er notað fyrir þýddan titil heimilarinnar.
• Chapter er notað yfir heiti kafla heimildarinnar
• Script-chapter er notað fyrir tungumál utan latneska stafrófsins. Það er eins og script-title, nema fyrir kafla í stað titils heimildarinnar.
• Trans-chapter er notað yfir þýddan kafla heimildarinnar.

Gerð

• type tilgreinir hverskonar heimild er verið að tilgreina.

Tungumál

• language er fyrir tungumál (eitt eða fleiri) heimildarinnar. Nokkur tungumál eru aðskilin með kommu.

Verk og útgefandi

• work. Aðalgildið fyrir verk er work, en nokkur af heimildarsniðunum nota önnur gildi. Cite web notar website, cite news notar newspaper, cite magazine notar magazine, cite journal notar journal og cite enclyopedia notar encyclopedia. Þessi gildi eru ekki aðgengileg í öðrum heimildarsniðum, þó svo að þau noti sama kóðann.
• publisher er útgefandi heimildarinnar.
• location er staðurinn þar sem heimildin var gefin út.
• via er notað þegar það að gefa út útgefanda nægir ekki. Via er fyrir aðilann sem kemur heimildinni til skila, en er þó ekki útgefandi.

Síður

Nota má eitt af eftirfarandi gildum til að gefa upp hvar í heimildinni upplýsingarnar eru. Ef nokkur gildi eru gefin þá er engöngu ein sýnd.

• page fyrir eina einstaka síðu
• pages fyrir nokkrar síður
• at fyrir staðsetningu í heimild þegar blaðsíðutal nægir ekki
• quote-page tilvitnun úr heimild sem styður við upplýsingarnar sem heimildin stendur við.
• quote-pages sama og quote-page, nema fyrir nokkrar síður

Útgáfur

• edition er til að tilgreina ákveðna útgáfu heimildarinnar, þegar þær eru fleiri en ein.
• series er fyrir heimild sem er hluti af ritröð
• volume er fyrir bindi heimildarinnar
• issue er fyrir tölublað heimildarinnar

Ytri tenglar

• url bætir tengli við titil
• chapter-url bætir tengli við kafla
• format er skráartegund heimildarinnar (t.d. PDF, XLS)

Vefsöfn

• archive-url er vefslóð vefsafnsins þar sem afrit síðunnar er geymt
• arhive-date er dagsetningin þegar afrit var gerð af efninu.
• url-status er staða upphaflegrar heimildar. Hérna má setja gildin dead fyrir dauðan tengil, live þegar upphafleg heimild er enn til staðar og unfit og usurped þegar upphafleg vefsíða hefur verið tekin yfir og er nú notuð fyrir spam, auglýsingar eða annað óæskilegt.

Auðkenni

Eftirfarandi auðkenni eru studd: arxiv, asin, bibcode, bioxiv, citeseerx, doi, eissn, hdl, isbn, ismn, issn, jfm, jstor, lccn, mr, oclc, ol, osti, pmc, pmid, rfc, sbn, s2cid og zbl.

Aðgengi heimildar

Heimildir sem hafa takmarkað aðgengi er hægt að merkja með url-access. Hérna má nota orðin registration þar sem þarf skráningu, subscription þar sem þarf áskrift eða limited fyrir aðrar takmarkanir.
