Steingrimur Gudmundsson was born in Hafnarfjörður Iceland 1958. He has been an active drummer from the age of 16, performing with different bands and project in Iceland and elsewhere.

After a short encounter with the Icelandic music scene he altered his direction to Stockholm Sweden 1976. There he began his studies with the drummer Pétur Östlund and worked with variety of bands from Stockholm, touring and performed in clubs, theaters and festivals all over Sweden. In 1980 California was his next destination, for studies in Indian Tabla drumming with the master Swapan Chauduri at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafeal. In 1983 Steingrimur transfered to upstate New York to participated in a amazing music experience at Karl Bergers Creative Music Studio, Performed with many great musicians such as Nana Vasconselos, Ayib Dyeng, Paulo Mora, Hadji Tekbilek, Ola Tunji and others. Shortly after moving to Iceland in 1987 he formed the band Súld with the Polish violin player Szymon Kuran. Súld recorded two albums and toured Iceland, England and Canada. For the last twenty years his main activities have been with, The Millionaires, Parabola Percission Project, Bardukha, Warsaw Pact and Steintryggur. Steingrimur has been residing in Chiang Mai Thailand for some period of time from 2010, performing music and writing fairy tales.
